Decide on the budget
The budget will influence a lot of the other decisions you will make. Have a rough idea of how much you want to spend and if possible, make a list of all the things you need to get done like catering and how much they will cost. Decide if you will be covering the budget yourself or if you will need to involve other friends to help out. This will help to make other decisions easier.

Choose a time and a place
One of the most important steps in planning for a baby shower is choosing the venue. Put a lot of thought into it and decide on a place that is convenient for the mom to be and other guests. Keeping in mind your budget, pick a place that will delight the mom to be. Saturday and Sunday afternoons work best for most people when it comes to timing.

Pick a theme
Having a theme for the shower will make it much more fun. Decide on the dress code, the food, the decorations and any other thing you need before and start making the necessary plans to have them in place.

Create a guest list and send the invitations
You also want to have the right people at the party. If the mom-to-be knows about the shower, consult with her on who she would like to have at the party. If it is a surprise shower, talk to her friends and make sure you send out the invitations in time.

Come up with a program
On that day, you don’t want the guests to come for you to just wing it with the program. Have in place a program that will be followed on that. Allocate time for important details such as food, speeches, and games.

You also want people to have lots of fun on that day, so come up with a list of fun games beforehand. You can do research and find enjoyable games that can be played on that day.
